用途開発からのデザイン。
本プロジェクトでは、スマートミラーの新たな用途を見出すところから始まりました。
こちらからの一方的な提案ではなく、クライアントの開発メンバーや有志の参加者と共にワークショップを何度も繰り返し、使いたくなる状況から欲しいサービスや機能、それに伴う条件について共にアイデアを出し合い、参加者一人ひとりの意見と要望を汲み上げながら丁寧に骨子を固め、企画、仕様、プロダクトデザインからGUIデザイン、実動するワーキングモックまでをディレクション、デザインしました。結果として「従来のスマートミラーは“ミラー”という言葉に囚われすぎている」という視点から固定観念に囚われない、新しくも生活に馴染むスマートミラーが生まれました。
このスマートミラーは、より身近に、生活の中心に置くことを目的に企画・デザインされています。
従来のようにハーフミラーを用いてその裏から映像を映すのではなく、高解像度のリアルタイム動画によって鏡として機能しつつ、スマートディスプレイとしても機能するという特徴を持っています。高解像度のリアルタイム動画によるデジタルミラーであるからこそ、映る姿に意図したタイムラグを生じさせたり静止画を撮影するなどして、普通の鏡では見ることの出来ない「自分の後ろ姿」を確認することなども可能にします。ワークショップを通じて、一日の生活における鏡の使用頻度に対する気付きや現状のスマートミラー市場における鏡のあり方がキーとなり生まれた仕様です。そこから、生活の中心に相応しい大きさ、素材、佇まいを何度も検討し、無垢のオーク材を用いた余白のあるデザインが生まれました。インテリアの片隅に立てることも、壁に掛けることも可能です。
今までよりもう少し、人に、暮らしに、近くあるデザインを創り出しました。
Design from usage development.
This project started with finding a new usage for the smart mirror.
Rather than a unilateral proposal from us, we held a series of workshops with the client's development team members and volunteer participants, and together we came up with ideas for the services and functions we wanted and the conditions that would accompany them, based on situations that would make people want to use them. We then carefully worked out the framework, planning, specifications, and product design, as well as the GUI. As a result, a new and familiar smart mirror was born from the viewpoint that "conventional smart mirrors are too caught up in the word 'mirror'".
This smart mirror is planned and designed to be more familiar and to be placed in the center of our daily lives. Rather than using a half-mirror to project images from behind it as in the past, the mirror functions as a smart display while also functioning as a digital mirror with high-resolution, real-time video. Because it is a digital mirror with high-resolution, real-time video, it can create a time lag in the "reflection" and take still images, making it also possible to check the "back of your head," which cannot be seen in an ordinary mirror. The key to this specification was the realization of how often we use mirrors in our daily lives through workshops, and the current state of mirrors in the smart mirror market. From there, the size, material, and appearance appropriate for the center of daily life were examined again and again, and a design with a blank space using solid oak was born. It can stand in a corner of the interior or hang on the wall.
We have created a design that is a little closer to people and their lives than ever before.
